Facilities
Training at the Academy is delivered using a balance of classroom-based theoretical training and practical field-based exercises. In order to facilitate this we have classrooms at the Academy in Aldershot and ITA is one of the first commercial organisations to be granted permission to use the MoD training areas on Salisbury Plain. This enables us to conduct practical explosives handling and live firing exercises up to a maximum Net Explosive Quantity in excess of 10Kg.
Practical training can require the use of open areas, road systems and buildings in which to conduct Search, IED Disposal, Private Security Detail and Close Protection exercises. Via the Royal Navy’s outsourced training partner Flagship, we have access to a former Royal Navy warship; HMS Bristol and we can also provide access to a variety of road, rail and airborne vehicles plus access to a number of prestigious public and private sites. Through a good relationship with Defence Estates, ITA is able to access a number of dormant Ministry of Defence properties to conduct practical exercises.
