‘One-stop EOD’
The International Training Academy provides a unique range of City and Guilds training courses to support safety, duty of care and operational effectiveness for people working in the explosives, homeland security and law-enforcement sectors.
The Academy’s highly qualified instructors teach skills that aren’t readily accessible outside of the British military and the curriculum has been designed to encourage enrolment by students with no prior experience and by those with a wealth of practical knowledge gained in the workplace. The Academy is proud to have become appointed as a City and Guilds centre, which supports student career development by providing formal training that leads to recognised qualifications. City and guilds qualifications also provide employers with a robust, externally verified means of supporting their duty of care to employees and are as beneficial to long-serving employees as they are to new team members.
We fully support the development of international occupational standards for explosives and search disciplines and whilst our training is based on British military doctrine, we go great lengths to develop training courses that incorporate and map across to other relevant standards. The Academy’s curriculum development team is able to react quickly to specific client requirements, which means that courses can be tailored to meet the precise operational outcome. We are also mindful that other awarding bodies exist and the team constantly strives to meet and work with these standards, where we see that this will benefit the students. This open approach has been welcomed by the international explosives industry and military alike; with the result that training at the Academy is becoming widely regarded as an important and uniquely rewarding aid to career progress, safety and global security.
Based inside the Aldershot military garrison in the UK, the Academy is well located for social and cultural activities and this location provides students with a secure and pleasant learning environment. Student accommodation is available within the garrison or at a range of excellent local hotels. In addition, training can be delivered at any suitable global location. The Academy places strong emphasis on practical, hands-on training and our students enjoy the use of Ministry of Defence training areas and a number of other excellent locations which provides diversity and relevance during search and live explosives exercises.
